C.S.O - PROLOGUE

 PROLOGUE

In 2039, VRMMOs have become commonplace all over the world. Even now, many game companies around the world are competing to create the best VRMMO.

One of the VRMMOs, Celestial Soul Online made by Yggdrasil Group in Japan is the most famous VRMMO in the world. And as usual, the players were currently playing freely, it was just-

"Aaahhh...... that bastard. I can't believe I saw him in this town."

"Yeah. I know. I'd love to PK. him now."

"Stop it. We are all Celestial Soul Online players. Injustice in this game is a common thing, isn't it?!"

The young man looked at his friend with a sharp gaze, then hit their new party member. He wasn't afraid of reducing the HP bar because they were currently in a city,  which is a safe zone.

"You know, I don't mind if 'he' is a Top Player, but.. he... what is the right word?"

"Too ordinary."

"Yuup. Too ordinary. His levels and skills are lower than ours, even lower than you who've only been playing Celestial Soul Online for three months. Doesn't that upset you?"

"But it can't be helped, not everyone takes the game seriously. I think many people who play celestial soul online are like him"

Hearing the new member of their party, the two let out a deep sigh. He doesn't know anything. That's what they both thought.

"Oh yeah, by the way, why do you hate that player? I really don't feel there is anything special about him. Even his equipment...I don't think it's a rare item."

"Hyuga, you still don't know anything huh."

A green-haired player level 76 sees another player leaning against a shop as if waiting for someone. As his friend said, the player he see didn't look special at all, it was just that the katana sword which is his weapon gave off a slightly dangerous impression. But they are currently in the game. Every player must carry a weapon to fight mob monsters and carry out missions.

"Don't call my real name here. Call me Shura. You too Sora, don't call me by my real name either, understand?"

His friend who was a level 89 and 93 user nodded in unison.

"Alright, I didn't expect you to be so arrogant even though you've only played for 3 months."

"That has nothing to do with you, you know that right?"

"Never mind, we don't need to discuss the unimportant thing. Now let's discuss our strategy to defeat the Monster Boss and go to the next town."

The three of them sat in a restaurant. Food will not make the body full in the real world. but in CSO, Players are required to eat because it will affect HP.

"Hmmm....according to the information, the Boss we have to face isn't very strong, but it has the unique Double Shadow skill that makes the Boss Monster multiply when the HP bar is red. I guess with our current party members, we can't beat the Monster Boss ."

"I thought we'd have to find 3 more party members, didn't we? Sora, how about we invite our friends over when we defeated the previous Monster Boss?"

A player named Sora, opened a window pane to check the friends list. After a while, Sora looked sullen and displeased.

"They can't right?"

"Why don't we just invite people we don't know? For example that player?"

Shura pointed at the player who was still leaning back and standing still.

But when Shura pointed at the player who was leaning against the wall to join the party, Sora and Ryuu immediately laughed loudly.

"I'll do it too, so don't come up with that idea again!"

Shura didn't know why his two friends hated that player so much, but he realized that his friend must have had good reasons to hate such a mediocre player.

Could it be the player.....a cheater!?

Shura didn't know. He's only been playing for 3 months, so he's still unfamiliar with the CSO world. He still didn't know which players he could cooperate with and which he couldn't.

Death Penalty in CSO not only makes players lose some money but also loses 1 random item from storage. This is what causes the Red Player in CSO to be quite a lot and popular.

"Ryuu, you're worrying too much. Not all players are Red Players. Don't assume before you try."

“I know that, but remember this is CSO. This is not an ordinary game. The number of Red Players has increased tremendously in the last few months, With just one mistake, we will die and get the Death Penalty. We're still lucky if we lose useless items, but what if it's the rare items?"

Ryu is right. Inviting players they didn't know would get them in trouble.

“Then, should we wait for friends to go online, but……”

"That's impossible. If we force them to go online, if they got caught then their VR Gear will be confiscated."

Ryuu suddenly pounded the table quite hard. He also put on an annoyed face knowing they were in a difficult situation.

They wanted to quickly go to the next city, but they couldn't go before defeating the Monster Boss, defeating the Monster Boss is one of the obligations of every CSO Player.

But they also couldn't invite party members carelessly because there was a possibility that the people they invited were Red Players.

"Shit. If only we know a strong enough player we could trust."

"That's true, but the most important thing is that the player is willing to join our party even if only for a moment."

Ryuu and Sora showed complicated faces.

Knowing the party members and his friends were having a hard time, Shura remembered the news regarding the city they were currently in.

"Players like that exist in this town."

Hearing the words of the new recruits and newbies in their party, Sora and Ryuu widened their eyes.

"I didn't know you knew a player like that."

"You're wrong. You know that player too."

Shura's words made them even more confused.

Shura smiled a little. He looked like a fox plotting a devious plan.

"You remember the news that spread on the internet back at school, right?"

Ryuu immediately widened his eyes when he realized who the player in question was.

"Hey... Hyu- Shura. Don't tell me you meant to ask 'her' for help?"

"Of course. Given our current situation, I guess there is no other choice but to ask for the help of one of the Top Players and one of the Valkyrie Maiden, known as the Flame Queen."

There was an instant silence for a long time.

"If you want to find the Flame Queen, all you have to do is look at that player!"

Shura was surprised to be ordered to look at the player who was still leaning against the shop wall.

There's nothing special about that player. Black hair as dark as night and a handsome face, but boring looking. The clothes and equipment are also all black, giving the impression of following the famous novel character Kiri*o.

The HP bar shows the player's name.

"Kuro?"

He knew the name meant black. This was the first time he had heard that name. 

He wondered, what is the relationship between that player and the Flame Queen?

Unexpectedly, his question was immediately answered when he saw a female player approaching Kuro.

The female player had red hair like smoldering fire and model-like proportions. The chest armor covers her chest which can be said to be large. A sword was sheathed around the female player's waist as a symbol of her being a strong player.

Yes. The female player is the Flame Queen with the character name Flamia.

Shura was surprised to see Flamia talking to Kuro. The two of them even look familiar and know each other.

But there was one thing that surprised Shura even more.

The Flame Queen kissed Kuro on the cheek shamelessly.

Kuro looked angry when Flamia did that, but Flamia just gave a small and mischievous smile.

And Shura finally realized that Kuro is Flamia's husband in CSO.

He could tell by the ring on both of their fingers.

"Now, I know why you guys want to PK him."

Sora and Ryuu nodded simultaneously. They now find new friends who share their suffering.

Suffering between fellow CSO players and men. In VR games, kissing is a common thing.

But that's it in a regular VR game. The reason CSOs are famous isn't because the game is difficult to complete, or has an interesting story. But because CSO is the most real VR game in the world today. In other words...

Kissing in the CSO world. It's like feeling a kiss in real life.

"Flamia, stop that bad habit of yours. You know the trouble I got because of you?"

"I don't want to. It's because I...really love you Kuro."

"..."

Kuro sighed deeply and couldn't help but cry inwardly.

He was happy, but considering the problems he would face, he would choose to immediately log out of the CSO world.
